Reason 2: In the GDPR Age, Privacy Matters

In May of 2018, the EU implemented the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which makes businesses legally responsible for the protection and management of data containing personal information. To be GDPR compliant, businesses that collect, store, and use personal information must among other things know where personal information exists in their organization, including who has it, and be able to erase such information at the request of an individual.

However, most users of cloud storage services do not have full visibility and control over documents including those with personal information. Rights management in the cloud, gives you the tools to track who has sensitive information, and revoke access when needed. And in the age of GDPR, privacy and data protection are not just best practice; it’s the law.
